Eating Noodles to Fulfill a Daughter's Dream

Hou Yanwei is a 49 years old street cleaner, and sports fan from Hubei province in China.

He has a beloved daughter, Xinxin who has been passionate about gymnastics since the age of 4.

And his biggest dream is to help his daughter make it to the national team.

But this ambition has put stress on the family's financial situation.

Mr Hou earns only US$300 a month, and used more than half of it to cover his beloved daughter's fees and expenses.

Divorced and living in a small flat, Mr Hou keeps his spending to a minimum.

He said, "Since my daughter started gymnastics, I have chosen to eat noodles and steamed buns as they are not expensive.

I am not a capable man, and cannot give my daughter a wealthy family life. So I am willing to take more bitterness to provide a better future for her."

Mr Hou has eaten so much instant noodles over the years, and has not spent more than US$2 a day.

"Life is not easy, but I promised I would support her. I just want her to have a better life than me."

So in the pursuit of your own success, please don't forget those who have supported you over the years, to make sure you could achieve your dreams.
